Isn’t that what we’re all called to? A life of joy.

It’s not a life of comfort, but one of challenges. It’s not a life of ease, but one of substance. It’s not a life about me, but a life about Him. It’s a life filled with the joy of the Lord – not the happiness of getting my way, but the joy of walking in His Will.

I would like to tell you that I have always lived in the reality of this Joy Filled life, but I would be lying. I got to this place of a joy filled life the hard way, I took the scenic route, the road more traveled. I found this life of joy when everything else failed —finally I looked to the author and finisher of my faith and found that He held the keys to a life of joy. So, here I am – living that life of joy.

Victorious living is about choosing joy. Yes, I said choosing joy – it doesn’t just happen . Happiness happens, sadness happens, but joy . … now, that’s from the Lord.

A life of joy is a life in step with the Lord.
A life of joy is a life in connection with your Lord.
A life of joy is a life committed to the Lord.

About me?

I suppose this is where I should list credentials, education, publishing credits and all that fancy stuff — but I’m not. (Okay, I’ll list it at the end . .. . for those who just want to know) I just want to introduce myself:
I’m a slightly frazzled, but always optimistic dreamer who loves the Lord and life. I’m married to the most wonderful man, Vaughn, and mom to two incredible daughters, Charity and Paige.

I’m blessed with wonderful girlfriends and love to hang out with them – for an afternoon of laughter or a weekend of pure fun. I adore a good cup of coffee and love coffee with attitude –French vanilla spiced latte with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon, that’s coffee with attitude. My favorite cup of coffee is the one we (that’s dear hubby and me) enjoy on the deck of a chalet in the Great Smokey Mountains.

The Lord called me into His service many years ago, but I wasn’t the most willing participant. I struggled with doing His will and continued on my own path until I finally figured it out – He is the Joy in my life and apart from Him I can do nothing.

Once this realization hit, I jumped on board in this adventure of life with the Lord and it’s been non-stop since. He’s taking me through some mighty peaks and He’s carried me through some valleys, but the lessons He’s taught me along the way are invaluable. These lessons are the basis for my speaking topics and my book (Girlfriends, God, and Grace: Finding and Building Friendships Based on Christ’s Love — release date April 2009)
My family and I attend church at Union Hill Baptist in Oneonta, Alabama, where I serve on the Women’s Ministry Team and teach Bible study. We are blessed to serve in a wonderful Southern Baptist Church and with some great people.
